Renowned Nigerian photojournalist, Jimoh Otisoro, has honoured the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, and the Chairman of Ibom Angels FC, Prince Ukeme Ukpong, with souvenirs in appreciation of their support during his coverage of the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, Caretaker News reports.

Otisoro presented the souvenirs at the Uyo Township Stadium during the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) match between Ibom Angels and Ekiti Queens, which ended 2–1 in favour of the home side.

While presenting the items, Otisoro spoke warmly about the support he received from Elder Paul Bassey, describing the Sports Commissioner as a consistent pillar of encouragement in his career. He said Elder Bassey once again played a key role in ensuring his participation at the AFCON tournament in Morocco, where the Super Eagles of Nigeria finished third.

He also shared a personal moment involving Ibom Angels chairman, Prince Ukeme Ukpong, revealing that he received financial support from him at the airport while preparing to depart for the tournament. Otisoro said the gesture brought him great joy and further motivated him during the competition.

In another message shared online, Jimoh Otisoro wrote “Acknowledgement and Appreciation to All Contributors to My Success at AFCON 2025

I sincerely acknowledge and appreciate everyone who contributed in one way or another to my successful outing at the 35th edition of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025.

Although the names and identities are too numerous to mention, I must specially recognise the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, whose advice and encouragement meant a lot to me. The able Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Uyo, Mr Joseph Udo, also deserves special appreciation.

The generous and dynamic Chairman of Ibom Angels FC, Uyo, Prince Ukeme Ukpong, cannot be forgotten in a hurry. Likewise, Dr Chukwuekezie Bede of Akpabio United FC contributed greatly to the success of my outing in Morocco.

I also appreciate the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Mr Samuel Umoh, for his kind gestures and support. His assistant also worked tirelessly in Morocco to ensure that all necessary achievements were recorded.

Hon. Clintong, as usual, contributed without hesitation. Hon. Idy, SA to the Governor, also came through as a pleasant surprise.

My thanks go to everyone who supported me through calls and messages across Africa and Europe. I apologise to those whose names were not mentioned, as this support will continue to be remembered even till the next edition.

Finally, I appreciate the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Nsibiet John.

Thank you all.”

The veteran photojournalist returned to Nigeria earlier this week after completing his assignment at the AFCON.

Jimoh Otisoro, born on April 5, 1975, is a CAF and FIFA-recognised photojournalist who is widely respected across African and global football circles. He began his photojournalism career after completing his National Youth Service Corps in 1992 and has since covered about seven FIFA World Cups and 14 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, alongside several national and international sporting events.

At a recent football gathering in Lagos, it was jokingly said that anyone who has not passed through the lens of Jimoh Otisoro since 1993 may not yet qualify to sit among football stakeholders, a statement that reflects his deep influence in the sport.

Known for his lively sense of humour and friendly personality, Otisoro is famous for his trademark chants of “Sa Sa Sa” and “Elelele”, which he uses to put his subjects at ease before capturing his shots.

Otisoro is celebrated for his passion, consistency and selfless dedication to sports journalism. He remains a familiar face at international competitions, especially when the Nigerian national teams are involved.

Tonto Dikeh Reconciles With Estranged Husband After Years of Conflict

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has announced that she has reconciled with her estranged husband and father of her child, Dr Kunle, after years of public conflict.

The actress shared the news in an emotional message posted on Saturday, January 24, 2026, where she described the reconciliation as an act of God and a result of faith, humility and prayer.

“We are living proof that the Word of God is eternal and unfailing,” Dikeh wrote. “God is not a God who abandons what He has started. When He begins a work, He stays with it until it is completed.”

She revealed that the reconciliation followed ten years of public battles, broken communication, bitterness and pain, adding that peace has now replaced conflict.

“What looked ugly, impossible, and beyond repair has been touched by mercy,” she said. “Peace has replaced chaos. Respect has returned where anger once lived.”

Dikeh credited the restoration to divine intervention rather than human effort, saying, “This restoration is not by might, not by wisdom, not by strength—but by the Spirit of the Lord.”

She also thanked her son’s father for choosing peace, saying, “I am deeply grateful to the father of my child, Dr Kunle, for yielding to God’s word and choosing peace.”

In her message, the actress encouraged others facing similar struggles not to lose hope. “God has not abandoned you. Your story is not over,” she wrote. “What He has started, He will surely perfect.”

The reconciliation comes after years of public disagreements between the former couple, including disputes over their marriage, their son’s welfare, and accusations exchanged on social media. The tensions resurfaced recently after posts made during their son’s birthday celebrations.

However, Dikeh’s latest message signals a major shift, as she expressed hope that the renewed relationship would remain built on “God’s mercy, protection, grace, and mighty hand.”

She concluded by thanking her spiritual mentor for guiding her, saying the restored relationship stands as proof that “God never fails, never forgets, and never walks away from His own.”

Man Jailed After Spending ₦1.5bn Mistakenly Credited by First Bank

A First Bank customer, Ojo Eghosa Kingsley, has been sentenced after spending ₦1.5 billion mistakenly credited to his bank account.

The incident happened between June and November 2025, when First Bank wrongly paid the money into Kingsley’s account. Instead of reporting the error, he diverted the funds for personal use.

Kingsley was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benin City and was arraigned before the Edo State High Court on 19 January 2026. He was charged with theft and fraud under the Edo State Criminal Law of 2022.

He pleaded guilty immediately after the charges were read. His lawyer asked the court for leniency, saying his client was remorseful.

In its ruling, the court sentenced Kingsley to one year in prison or a fine of ₦5 million, and also ordered him to refund the outstanding sum of ₦272,252,193.59 to First Bank.

Before the judgment, the EFCC had already recovered ₦802,420,000 from Kingsley’s account and from accounts belonging to his mother and sister. First Bank also reversed transactions worth over ₦300 million.

In a dramatic moment in court, Kingsley told the judge that he preferred to serve the prison sentence rather than refund the remaining ₦272 million.

The case has since sparked public debate on financial responsibility and the consequences of abusing banking errors.

Ex-Robber Reveals How He Prayed Before Robbing Churches, Targeted Over 1,000 Worship Centres

Published

on

Kolawole Temitope, a former armed robber who spent over 25 years in prison, has revealed that he used to pray before carrying out robberies — including attacks on churches across Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

In a viral interview, the now-born-again evangelist said churches were his major targets, claiming he robbed over 1,000 churches and homes, with a strong focus on church buildings.

“Whenever we were about to go for an operation, I would insist that we pray,” Temitope said.

“Some of them relied on charms, but I did not. I only prayed.”

He explained that his decision to pray instead of using charms was shaped by his childhood experiences.

“My parents took me to many places for charms and solutions when I was young, but none of them worked. So I decided I would only pray,” he said.

Temitope admitted that he deliberately targeted churches because they often had cash, musical instruments and equipment.

“I robbed many churches, both within Nigeria and in neighbouring countries. I focused mostly on RCCG churches because they usually had what we needed,” he said.

“They had money, good musical instruments and equipment.”

He insisted that his actions were not driven by hatred for any church.

“It was not because the church offended me. It was simply because they had what it took,” he explained.

According to him, his operations were well-planned. He said once he arrived in a new area, his first request was always the same.

“Anywhere I went, the first thing I would tell the bike man was, ‘Take me to the RCCG headquarters,’” he said.

“I would study the environment and the church very well before striking.”

Temitope said he led robbery gangs of between three and five people and maintained strict rules.

“I was the gang leader. I never killed anyone in my life. I could scare people with a gun, but I never shot anybody,” he added.

He finally turned away from crime in 2021 after a chance encounter with a paper titled ‘One Day’, an experience he says led to his complete repentance.

“From September 6, 2021, I have not stolen anything,” he said.

Now an evangelist, Temitope preaches independently and visits prisons to share his testimony.
